La Companie du Vent
The ambitious objective set by La Companie du Vent ti bring its installed wind power to 2000 megawatts by 2015 has led to its association in 2007 with GDF Suez. An international industrial and utilities group, GDF Suez is present up and down the energy chain, whether it be electricity or natural gas. The ambition of GDF Suez is to meet all energy needs by using the best possible ressources available and actively fighting climate change. The group GDF Suez has more then 196 500 members of staff and in 2007 had a turnover of € 74.3 billion. The french pionneer and leader in wind energy, La Companie du Vent, Groupe GDF Suez is today vital to the renewable energy sector, thanks to its diversification into photovoltaic solar energy production and biofuel. Its objective is to produce, in a socially responsable manner, clean green renewable energy. La Companie du Vent looks for new sites, communicates with the people concerned, develops new projects, finances them, builds the necessary installations and takes care of their day-to-day running.
In France and abroad, La Companie du Vent builds its own windfarms and also those for third parties. It owns and runs, in France, a total of 12 windfarms, with an overall output of more than 120 megawatts. It has also built almost 60 megawatts for a third part in Morocco.
La Companie du Vent has also committed itself to a promising foray into biofuel. Its subsidary Biocar is preparing to build a new biodiesel factory, by 2010, with a yearly capacity of 200 000 tonnes, in the port of Marseille.
Furthermore, other La Companie du Vent projects will bring about a total output of 55 megawatts-peak based in photovoltaic solar stations by 2015.
