Q-Cells SE

Founded in 1999, Q-Cells is now the world's second largest producer of solar cells. The company, based in Bitterfeld-Wolfen (Germany), has produced approx. 370 MWp of mono- and multicystalline solar cells in 2007 and has 1,800 employees. The company's strategy is based on strong growth and ongoing cost reduction. Q-Cells also develops and produces thin-film modules using several different technologies. By 2010, the Q-Cells group plans to produce more than 1 GWp of silicon wafer-based cells and 400 to 600 MWp of thin-film PV modules using different technologies.

Core business: production of mono- and multicrystalline solar cells (approx. 370 MWp in 2007); from mid-2008 production of thin film modules using various technologies through subsidiary and associate companies: Sontor GmbH, Calyxo GmbH, Solibro GmbH and VHF-Techologies SA (Flexcell); investments in CSG Solar AG, EverQ GmbH, Solaria Corporation and REC Renewable Energy Corporation ASA.
