The company was founded in 2005 by a team of professionals with broad experience in renewable energies. With headquarters in Athens, and factories in Patras (Greece) and Pernik (Bulgary), the company is mainly focused on PV and Solar fields of activity.

Principal Business
Solar Cells Hellas SA aims to be the leader Greek manufacturer of high efficiency solar wafers, cells and modules. In addition, Solar Cells Hellas SA provides the necessary infrastructure for the planning, installation and operation of PV power plants in the Greek territory. Today, Solar Cells Hellas SA is under the procedure of getting a license for the implementation of solar and PV plants in privately owned fields in south Greece.

PV activities
Solar Cells Hellas SA constructs a complete integrated facility with three fabrication lines of multicrystalline silicon solar wafers, cells and modules as a turnkey solution from GT Solar. With 14.000m2 of buildings and 230 employees, PV will become the primary business unit for the company, which is also active in optical media (cd/dvd) sector for more than 8 years. The 37.000m2 of total land, for 60MW/year production which will be utilised in two phases within 2008, required an investment of about €100 million. Starting up the production in the first trimester of 2008, the company will be actively participating to the events of the industry registry. Furthermore, tthrough its affiliates, Solar Cells Hellas SA can prepare and submit the necessary study to RAE for RES projects as well as to follow up the procedure up to the operation and maintenance of the plant. Solar Cells Hellas SA has recently takeover Energy Solutions, a private company founded in December of 2003, with an industrial plant (assembly 10MW/y module) located in Bulgaria. Further development of the R&D dept is the company's main goal and is certified by financing Phd programs, participating in international conferences and workshops, cooperating with widely acknowledged and prestigious institutions, companies and universities. Finally, Solar Cells Hellas SA has planned to build additional facility based on thin film (μc-Si) technology, starting from 30 MW and increasing the production to 65 MW within the next 2 years. With 60MW wafer based and 65MW thin film modules, Solar Cells Hellas will account a noticeable portion of the Mediterranean production and market.
