Set up in December 2001, with an initial investment of approximately 14 million Euros, Photovoltech has the backing of three major shareholders: Total (47.8%), Suez - Electrabel - Soltech (47.8%) and IMEC (4.4%) As a spin-off of IMEC, Photovoltech has a variety of innovative technologies at its disposal. Its special texturization production process delivers cells that combine an outstandingly uniform appearance with high efficiencies (up to 16% and more).

Principal Business
The multicrystalline silicon solar cell technology of Photovoltech is characterized by several advanced high efficiency features. Photovoltech cells are particularly suited for applications where uniform appearance, maximum efficiency and high current density of PV modules play a crucial role. The premium product in the cell range is the MAXIS BC+ cell, a unique Back Contact Cell which offers enhanced visual appeal because there are no bus bars on the front. The metallization wrap through process allows the electrodes to be passed through the cell.
