Winergy
Winergy had its beginnings in the "wind energy" business unit of A. Fried. Flender AG, Bocholt, which was successfully developed over a number of years. In 2001 the business unit was floated as Winergy AG to satisfy the worldwide enormously growing demand in drive systems for wind turbines. Right from its foundation in 2001, the company has been a market and technology leader in the wind turbine industry, and with about 40 % of the market is the largest producer of gearboxes for the wind industry. In 2005, the company was acquired by Siemes and today operates as part of Siemens Automation and Drives Division. It supplies all the major turbine manufacturers. Winergy’s current products include combined planetary and helical gearboxes for wind turbines ranging from 600 kW up to 5 MW. The majority of its business is in the 1.5 to 2.5 MW range.
