Ministry of the Environment Danish Environmental Protection Agency(EPA)

The Danish Environmental Protection Agency(EPA) is responsible for public management of water resources and the marine environment. Each year the Danish EPA publishes a bathing water atlas showing the quality of bathing water in Denmark. Marine environment monitoring, regulation of ship-based pollution, off-shore activities and rat control are also administered by the Agency.
The Danish Environmental Protection Agency provides information and guidance to companies, maufacturers and others regarding the use of chemicals and adherence to chemical-related regulations. The Agency also administers the legislation on pesticides.

Nearly 13 million tons of waste are generated in Denmark per year. The Danish Environmental Protection Agency works to ensure proper waste collection and treatment as well as to increase recycling capacity. Through cooperation with a number of other EU Member States, Denmark has come far in the area of waste management and is a leader in utilising the energy in waste through incineration.
