Environmental Services Association (ESA)

ESA is the trade association representing the UK's waste management and secondary resources industry. ESA’s Members provide essential waste and secondary resources management services to the public and private sectors. ESA works with all levels of government and regulators to deliver more sustainable waste management for the UK. ESA's industry, which accounts for 0.7% of GDP, has quadrupled England’s domestic recycling rates over the last ten years, with even greater improvement in Scotland. Their industry provides a third of the UK’s renewable energy and is the ‘most important council service’ according to two out of every three voters. ESA’s Members lead in modernising the UK’s waste management sector.
ESA’s board of directors is made up of the Managing Directors of Britain’s leading waste management companies and includes representatives from SMEs.
Policy is developed through a committee structure specialising in issues such as renewable energy, recycling, landfill operations, transport, planning, carbon management, sectoral economics and health and safety. These committees are co‐ordinated by the executive committee which reports to the board.
