German Council on Foreign Relations

The German Council on Foreign Relations (DGAP) is Germany’s national foreign policy network. As an independent, non-partisan and non-profit organization, we actively take part in the political decision-making process and promote the understanding of German foreign policy and international relations.

Aims of the Council are:

To promote Germany’s position in international relations;
To contribute substantially to the foreign policy debate in Germany;
To advise decision-makers in politics, business and society;
To inform the public about questions on global politics;
To strengthen the foreign policy community in Germany.

For these Purposes:

The DGAP conducts policy-oriented research and analysis;
The DGAP publishes studies, analyses and comments;
The DGAP organizes foreign policy-focused events (conferences, lectures, panel discussions, study groups, etc.);
The DGAP publishes the monthly journal »Internationale Politik« and the quarterly English-language journal »Internationale Politik-Global Edition«;
The DGAP operates the only library specializing on foreign affairs;
The DGAP offers foreign policy makers and experts a discussion platform in Germany;
Maintains the information gateway weltpolitik.net and the websites www.dgap.org and www.internationalepolitik.de
