SMS GmbH is the holding of the SMS group – a group of global leaders in plant construction and mechanical engineering for the industrial processing of steel, aluminum and nonferrous metals. As the managing holding company, SMS GmbH is responsible for the strategic planning, management and supervision of the Business Areas, SMS Siemag and SMS Meer.Operating jointly under the SMS brand, these two areas supply integrated solutions for metallurgical process technology, casting and rolling technology, as well as other shaping and refining processes. SMS group combines the flexibility of company units that operate as medium-sized enterprises and the broad resources of an internationally active company. In 2008, some 8,900 employees worldwide generated a turnover of more than EUR 3.6 bn.
