Science Park Gelsenkirchen

Science Park Gelsenkirchen is a first-rate business centre for clean energies located in the middle of North-Rhine Westphalia, Germany’s biggest state in terms of GNP.

Science Park (Wissenschaftspark) Gelsenkirchen is a key element and symbol of the ongoing structural change of The Ruhr, Germany’s largest industrial agglomeration and centre for coal mining and power generation.

The technology centre was built on the grounds of a former steel mill and equipped with a roof-mounted solar power plant with 210 kWp capacity - the world’s largest of its kind at the time built. It has become a strong symbol for the region’s transition from traditional to new and renewable energy technologies.

Wissenschaftspark Gelsenkirchen GmbH, the owner and operator of the building, has established a project division to support this trend through a comprehensive set of activities, including international conferences, training programmes, marketing campaigns and consultancy for public and private bodies.

Science Park Gelsenkirchen offers a perfect environment for innovative and growth-oriented companies. Since its inauguration in 1996, the centre has become a major venue for conferences, training programmes and public events of various kinds.

Based on the close relationships to government bodies on the city and state level on the one hand and major players of Germany’s renewable energy industry on the other hand, Science Park Gelsenkirchen offers customers a wide range of special services including advice for company foundation, guidance in applying for state funding and support in finding sales and R&D-partners.
