Solar City Gelsenkirchen e.V.

Solar City Gelsenkirchen e.V. is a registered association founded in 2004 with the goal to support the transformation of Gelsenkirchen from a coal and steel city towards a clean energy city. “From the city of the thousand fires towards the city of the thousand suns” has become the paradigm for that development.

Solar City Gelsenkirchen is a public private partnership initiated by the City of Gelsenkirchen and its daughter company Science Park Gelsenkirchen. Under that umbrella, major players of the city’s clean energy industry, research organisations, the chamber of crafts, financial institutions and housing companies have joined forces to design and implement projects promoting climate protection, renewable energies and energy efficiency.
