EURELECTRIC

The Union of the Electricity Industry - EurElectric (hereafter referred to as EurElectric) is the association of the European Electricity Industry and of worldwide affiliates and associates.

EurElectric's mission is to contribute to the development and competitiveness of the Electricity Industry and to promote the role of electricity in the advancement of society.

The main focus and guiding principles of EurElectric's activity can be summed up as follows:

The Liberalisation Process
To contribute to the creation of a pan-European energy market through harmonisation and industry action.

The Pan-European Context
To contribute to a good business environment and to the integration of the Electricity Industry at international level.

Sustainable Development
To promote the role of electricity and electrotechnologies as "part of the solution" to the global environmental problem; to systematically integrate sustainable development policies in all key strategies and actions, and promote market-oriented solutions.

As a centre of strategic expertise, EurElectric will identify and represent the common interests of its Members and assist them in formulating common solutions to be implemented and in coordinating and carrying out the necessary actions.

EurElectric is also the association of the Electricity Industry within the European Union representing it in public affairs, in particular in relation to the institutions of the EU and other international organisations, in order to promote the interests of its members at a political level and to create awareness of its policies.

In addition, EurElectric maintains contact with its "social partners" (energy trade unions EPSU and EMCEF) as well as a number of industry and consumer interest groups, e.g. Eurogas, Foratom, UNICE, IFIEC, etc.

Internationally, it cooperates with its sister organisations across the world, such as Edison Electric Institute (EEI), USA, and the Federation of Electric Power Companies (FEPC), Japan, as well as with renowned international organisations, such as the International Energy Agency (IEA), the World Energy Council (WEC), and other influential bodies.
