Enzymes and microorganisms for industrial applications are Novozymes' core business. Hence, enzymes will continue to attract some 85% of our research resources, while 5% are used in microorganisms. In addition to the core enzymes business, Novozymes’ business strategy includes industrial microorganisms, biopolymers and pharmaceutical proteins. Novozymes aims to expand its existing enzyme markets through more focused research & development efforts leading to new products and applications. Furthermore, the company aims to target new geographical markets with its enzymatic solutions.

The Novozymes A share capital is held by Novo A/S, a wholly-owned subsidiary of the Novo Nordisk Foundation. In addition, Novo A/S holds 5,826,280 B shares, which overall gives Novo A/S 25.5% of the total share capital and 70.1% of the votes.
