Ministry of Environmental Protection of China

The Ministry of Environmental Protection of the People's Republic of China was created to replace the State Environmental Protection Administration (SEPA) during the March 2008 National People's Congress sessions in Beijing.

The mission of the Ministry of Environmental Protection is to prevent and control environmental pollution, protect nature and ecology, supervise nuclear safety, safeguard public health and environmental safety, and promote the harmony between man and nature. Directly under the State Council, Ministry of Environmental Protection is empowered and required by law to implement environmental policies and enforce environmental laws and regulations.
