Darwind strives to become a major global supplier in the offshore wind industry that offers its customers output at a significantly improved economic return. From 2011 on, Darwind will deliver lightweight turbines that boost high yields and require a minimum of maintenance. The company is creating a step change towards the next generation of dedicated offshore turbines with the introduction of Darwind’s turbine design.
The Darwind turbine has been designed with one aim in mind: to be perfect for offshore conditions. The turbine will be a 5 MW offshore turbine that conceals its power in a combination of ‘less is more’ design and the use of high-tech materials. Features include a direct drive, permanent magnets, a single main bearing, innovative blades, a modern fully sealed turbine and an integrated management control system. The turbine is lightweight, yet boasts high operational availability and a minimum of maintenance due to fewer components.
Darwind provides a full service concept for the development of wind farms. The company will assist their customers in creating wind farm economic models, assembling and manufacturing wind farms, commissioning and operations, and servicing and maintenance.
