SSB with its three divisions (Motive power engineering, Wind energy engineering and WTGS Full Service Packages) employs approx. 500 employees worldwide. Approx. 330 of these employees produce motors and systems for motive power and wind energy engineering applications in Germany. For the rapidly growing Asian market, we set up a new production facility in Qingdao, China, in 2006. The more than 100 employees in China predominantly produce pitching systems as well as switchgear and control equipment for WTGS. A further 70 employees are employed in the Service division. In 2007, SSB achieved sales of € 71 million.SSB has moved the international market along since 1970 with customer-specified products covering all aspects of drive engineering and wind power. The many years of experience and extensive know-how form a strong foundation for the extensive range of products and services: SSB offers advanced solutions for standard products or individual custom production, from motors, gearboxes, switchgear and control gear to control elements for wind turbine generator systems. SSB is one of the pioneers in the rapidly growing regenerative power generation market and has been a market leader in the area of electrical pitch systems and switchgear since 1995. SSB Service GmbH offers the wind power sector a pro-active full wind turbine service on a worldwide basis and regardless of the manufacturer. This includes the entire value chain and ranges from remote monitoring and maintenance to the supply of spare parts and from troubleshooting to turbine optimization with a team with more than 10 years of experience in the wind industry.
Currently, with more than 80 highly qualified engineers and technicians, SSB is developing specialized drive and control solutions for ever-expanding wind turbine generators, and are optimizing existing systems. SSB can be called one of the engines providing drive and movement to the wind power sector – for wind turbines of every size and type of construction – including individual solutions for special applications. More than 9,000 installed pitch-systems are worldwide in operation. Our range of products has developed as dynamically as the whole wind power industry in recent years. We offer remote services, maintenance, spare parts, repairs, training and upgrades – 24/7, at a one stop shop.
Due to our special components and systems, wind turbine generators can be operated under the toughest conditions. SSB's systems are capable to operate even in arctic temperatures of down to -40°C or in desert climates up to +50°C.
