Experts in the Danish business world believe that focusing on green products can pull Denmark out of the global financial crisis, reports national daily newspaper Jyllands-Posten.

Future specialist Jeffrey Scott Saunders told Jyllands-Posten: "Environmentally-friendly products are definitely one of the important ways out of the crisis. Environmental challenges are a mega-trend that will completely alter the way we organise ourselves over the coming decades."

The UK's Environmental Innovation Advisory Group expects that the global market for green technology will be worth over DKK 6,000bn (USD 1 trillion) next year. Denmark is well-placed to take advantage, with world-leading technologies in wind power, biogas and bioethanol production, solid oxide fuel cells, combined heat and power, and biomass-fuelled power stations, as well as a number of different wave power technologies currently undergoing sea trials.
