Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos is launching an energy-saving and environmentally-friendly product programme on the US market and is close to getting the White House as a customer
Danish pump manufacturer Grundfos, one of the world's leading companies in this industrial sector, is launching an energy saving and environmentally friendly product programme on the US market and is close to getting the White House as a customer, reports financial daily newspaper Børsen. Amid a historically deep financial crisis, Grundfos hopes its launch of a broad range of energy-saving pumps adjusted to the US market can create new growth for the company.
Grundfos is in contact with the White House concerning what is reputedly the world's most energy-saving circulation pump, Alpha 2, which controls the supply of hot water to radiators according to need. Søren Ø. Sørensen, group executive vice president told Børsen:
"We are in close dialogue with the White House, which is also interested in our energy-saving and environmentally-friendly pumps. If we gain the contract, one would have to say that President Obama, as a declared supporter of green energy, is practising what he preaches."
The Alpha 2 pump, which is one of the products that Grundfos has just introduced in the US, uses 80-90% less energy than conventional pumps. If all 100 million circulation pumps worldwide were replaced by Alpha 2 pumps, it would provide energy savings corresponding to more than the total energy consumption of Berlin and Paris, and reduce CO2 emissions by 20 million tonnes annually.
