Danish developed electric car to debut at COP15, Danish Ministry of Climate and Energy
Release Date: 2009-06-19
A Danish developed electric sports car with a top speed of 200 kph and a range of 350 km per charge will be showcased at COP15
The forthcoming UN Climate Change Conference COP15 in December in Copenhagen is set to make headlines not only inside the debating chambers, but also outside them on the streets of the Danish capital as auto manufacturers from far and wide showcase their electric cars to the assembled army of global media.
Among them will be a Danish-developed electric car called the Lynx, which is the brainchild of two Danish entrepreneurs whose company, Protanium, develops batteries for electrically power assisted bicycles.
Professional journal Ingeniøren (The Engineer) writes that The Lynx is a low slung, sporty-looking machine with performance to match: the two models to be shown have top speeds of 170 kph (105 mph) and 200 kph (124 mph) respectively, with battery ranges of 200 km (124 miles) and 350 km (217 miles) respectively.
The Lynx's motor generates 200 kW (270 horse power) and can accelerate from a standing start to 100 kph (62 mph) in a mere 3.8 seconds. Charging time for the batteries is between 2 and 4 hours, depending on the ampere rating of the circuit used.
