RWE supplies gas-fired power plant of CEZ, RWE

Release Date: 2009-06-25

* 15-year contract provides high flexibility

In 2013, RWE will commence natural gas deliveries to a combined-cycle power plant with an installed capacity of 841 MW that is being built in North Bohemian Pocerady by the Czech CEZ Group.

Representatives of the two corporations signed a 15-year contract today. The consumption of the power plant will be comparable to the annual gas consumption of the city of Prague. For the needs of the power plant, RWE is able to provide the supply of natural gas over the entire contract term.

"This is a very modern and flexible contract that is geared towards the market. The RWE group has, inter alia, by the experience with its own power plant portfolio comprehensive know-how for natural gas supplies. We are able to offer that in the Czech market and meet the requirement of competence of deliveries on an international level", said Martin Herrmann, Chairman of the Board of Directors of RWE Transgas. RWE will cover the supply volumes from its international purchasing portfolio for natural gas.

This project is not the first time that RWE and CEZ engage in cooperation. Since 2005, the two energy companies have been operating joint customer centers in all regions of the Czech Republic.
