China builds giant wind park, COP 15

The installed capacity of the USD 17.6 billion project will equal twice the world’s new installed capacity in 2007.

In Jiuquan city, China will shortly begin the construction of giant wind power station “the Three Gorges Dam on the land”. The plant will be built in a number of stages, with capacity reaching 20 GigaWatts (GW) by 2020. Or the same as the total of all newly installed capacity worldwide in 2007, the latest year to have worldwide records.
