Converteam: technology package for Konrad 1 mine winder, Converteam
Release Date: 2009-09-18
Berlin, 17 September 2009 – Converteam has received the order to supply the complete electric equipment for the Konrad 1 northern shaft mine winder of the former Konrad iron ore mine in Salzgitter, Lower Saxony, Germany. The order was recently placed by Deutsche Gesellschaft zum Bau und Betrieb von Endlagern für Abfallstoffe GmbH (DBE), a German company that builds and operates waste repositories.
The key component of the delivery is the new mine winder with a 1,750kW synchronous motor and cycloconverter for the future transport of excavated material, supplies, workers and vehicles. Converteam’s High Performance Controller will control the crushers and conveyor belts for loading and unloading the basket. The highly dynamic Converteam controller monitors the conveying equipment on the surface as
well as the equipment on the third level, i.e. 1,000 meters below ground.
The delivery also includes 6kV medium-voltage switchgear, safety circuits, signal equipment and the equipment visualization system. The SCADA system provides a process map of the complete conveying equipment, including all the auxiliary units. This system is designed as a multi-monitor configuration with a touchscreen functionality which offers operators a detailed overview and intuitive handling with a
vast range of functions, including status messages, equipment analysis, setpoint presetting options and the possibility of user-controlled checks of the safety equipment. Ventilation, Inergen fire extinguishing and smoke extraction systems complete the
technology package.
Converteam is responsible for complete engineering, delivery, installation and commissioning. The project also includes the dismantling of the former installation. In 2008, Converteam already successfully demonstrated its expertise with the revamp of the mine winder for the southern shaft of the Konrad 1 mine. Converteam has a track record of more than 100-years in mining. The first mine winder went into operation in
1890.
