MLS successfully completes testing of the i-Pitch 3000 system , MLS Control

Release Date: 2009-09-30

The i-Pitch® 3000 system successfully passed testing at the highest ruggedization levels for temperature, shock, and vibration specifications, thus setting a new benchmark for pitch control system performance in the challenging wind power turbine market. With successful testing, the i-Pitch 3000 system demonstrates qualification for the high-performance requirements needed for deployment in often harsh wind turbine installation environments.

"The successful testing and qualification of our i-Pitch 3000 further enhances MLS' ability to deliver high-performance, high-capacity, rugged-deployed wind turbine control solutions," said Sergio Dominguez, MLS Engineering Director. "We are committed to offering the market's most advanced and reliable pitch control solutions."

The i-Pitch 3000 system was subjected to a battery of environment tests to ensure its survivability and reliability in installed Wind Turbine applications where extreme conditions may range from the heat of the desert to the intense cold of the arctic. Climate tests were carried out according to the EN 60060 testing procedure. Vibration tests were conducted by the Automotive Technological Innovation Centre of Navarre (CITEAN) according to standard IEC 61373 Cat. 1 Class B .

In addition to Environmental testing, the i-Pitch 3000 system was also subjected to Electrical Safety and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) testing. Electrical Safety testing was conducted by LACECAL laboratories according to the standard UNE-EN-60439-1, to verify equipment properties required to avoid electrical shock and to insure safe functioning while operating under transient conditions.

EMC testing was type approved according to the standards EN61000-4-4 and EN61000-4-5 by the High Technology and Homologation Center-CATECHOM- an investigation support center and certifying body at the University of Alcalá in Madrid, Spain.
