Ramboll wins engineering award in Middle East for sustainable design, Ramboll

In the Middle East, Ramboll wins the Engineering Company of the Year Award handed out by Construction Week, the best known construction industry magazine in the Middle East. For this year's award, focus was on companies that incorporate sustainable and environmentally-friendly techniques keeping in mind the architectural appeal as well
Ramboll was awarded with the title of 'Engineering Company of the Year' by the judges for "delivering a net-zero carbon and self-sustaining design for the Abu Dhabi Authority for Culture and Heritage … in Liwa Oasis". This is a proposed accommodation facility for the staff working with restoration of old forts. We created a structural design for this contemporary building using local, natural building materials such as date palm tree and stems. Further, we proposed several renewable technologies to make the facility self-sufficient in energy and water.

The 5th Annual Construction Week Awards was open to engineering firms across all Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries, and is the most prestigious construction awards in the Middle East.

Peyman Mohajer, Managing Director of Ramboll Middle East, stated his delight at the result, "This is recognition for all of the hard work we have put in over the last year. It has been a difficult time, but being rewarded like this by our peers reminds us that we are doing the right things and are well positioned for when the market improves."

Ramboll was also recently nominated for 'Engineering Firm of the Year 'at the Middle East Architecture Awards.
