Danfoss Drives cuts own CO2 emissions , Danfoss

Release Date: 2010-03-05

Everywhere they are installed, Danfoss VLT® drives and soft starters are supporting energy savings and CO2 reductions in industrial and commercial applications - now it’s time for Danfoss Drives to reduce the CO2 emissions at its own production facilities
Over the next 22 months, Danfoss Drives anticipates saving approx. 1,250 tonnes of CO2 at its two production facilities in Denmark and this equals a reduction of more than 1 tonne per employee. This saving also represents more than that prescribed in the Danish government’s campaign called "1 tonne less".

In collaboration with Danfoss Solutions, which has almost 10 years of experience in assisting industrial companies in optimising their energy consumption, this work to reduce Danfoss Drives’s CO2 emissions, will be carried out as an EnSave® project, focussing on heat and power consumption.

It will involve technical initiatives, such as installation of frequency converters, measurement systems and staff participation through ideas generation and implementation. A team of "Energy Saving Ambassadors" will be trained to calculate simple energy savings and to disseminate "energy-conscious" conduct throughout the factories.

The project will be carried out in three phases and after the identification and implementation phases from January to October 2010, the project will continue for a further year until October 2011, when real savings will be measured and presented.
