Vestas China to deliver at least an additional of 49 MW to Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region , Vestas

Vestas, the global wind energy leader, has received an order of 49 MW from Ningxia Hanas New Energy Company, which is a new customer for Vestas and a new entrant to the Chinese wind energy industry in Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region (NHAR).Hanas New Energy Company is a company whose business is centred around natural gas businesses. Similar to one of the company’s owners, Master Investment Company Ltd., Hanas New Energy Company has now chosen to venture into the wind energy business in partnership with Vestas.
The order consists of 25 units of the V90 turbine, of which Vestas has sold more than 2,500 worldwide. The contract includes towers, delivery, transportation, installation and commissioning of the wind turbines, a VestasOnline® Business SCADA solution and a two-year service and maintenance agreement. This solution includes an extensive range of monitoring and control functions allowing the wind park to be controlled in the same way as a conventional power plant. In this way, customers have full control of power production as well as full overview of the operational status of each individual wind turbine, which is very important in relation to servicing of the turbines and sophisticated management of large scale wind power plants.

The order marks the beginning of a long-term strategic partnership between Ningxia Hanas New Energy Company and Vestas where both companies have agreed to further explore the opportunities for jointly developing wind energy in NHAR going forward. Vestas has agreed to provide substantial technical assistance to the customer’s current and future projects as well as training and development of technical personnel – in particular, siting of wind turbines will be an area where there will be more and closer collaboration between Vestas and Hanas New Energy Company.
The site of the project is located in Yanchi, Ningxia Hui Autonomous Region, and the wind turbines are expected to be delivered in the third quarter of 2010.
As of 31 December 2009, Vestas had an accumulated installed capacity of more than 2,000 MW in China, which makes Vestas one of the largest players in the Chinese wind energy market.
