Climate Consortium Denmark presents Danish energy efficiency at Expo 2010 , EnergyMap

Release Date: 2010-05-11

On Wednesday, May 12th, Climate Consortium Denmark is host to the conference “Cleantech and green cities – the Danish model” at Expo 2010 in Shanghai. The goal is to establish a framework for future collaboration between Chinese local government, Danish companies and the Danish State
All through the past year, Climate Consortium Denmark has received representatives from foreign companies, local government and public authorities, visiting Denmark to experience Danish energy efficient and climate friendly solutions by participating in an Energy Tour. Among the visitors have been many Chinese delegations. The conference “Cleantech and green cities – the Danish model”, presents the Danish example to Chinese decision makers who have not had the opportunity to travel to Europe.

“This is a unique opportunity for us. The eyes of the world are on Expo 2010 in Shanghai, and the Danish pavilion is very popular. We can take advantage of this to show how far ahead Denmark is in the area of energy efficient, innovative and climate friendly buildings,” says Finn Mortensen, Director of Climate Consortium Denmark.

It makes good sense to present the Danish model and Danish businesses in Shanghai. The latest analyses show that within the next two decades, China will be Denmark’s third-largest export market, surpassed only by Denmark’s neighbors: Sweden and Germany. Just this week, Denmark and China celebrated 60 years of diplomatic relations.

“China is an interesting country for Denmark. Not only is Chinese economy on the rise; the country is also investing heavily in construction. This is where Danish companies have a lot to offer. Through the past 40 years, we have proven that well planned urban development, construction and energy systems lead to massive energy savings. We expect a large part of the increased exports from Denmark to China will be energy efficient technology and know-how,” says Finn Mortensen.

With the conference, Climate Consortium Denmark hopes establish closer relations to Chinese mayors and officials, and to demonstrate Danish expertise in climate friendly buildings.
