Beaufort wind project not awarded subsidy for time being, Vattenfall AB

Release Date: 2010-05-18

The Beaufort wind project, owned by Nuon, has not been awarded a subsidy under the SDE scheme (a Dutch governmental scheme to stimulate renewable energy) for offshore wind farms in the Netherlands at the current stage
The Ministry of Economic Affairs has announced its decision to this effect on Wednesday 12 May.

The subsidy has been awarded to two projects north of the island of Schiermonnikoog owned by the German Bard Groep. Whether the projects’ initiator decides to use the subsidy will be announced later, as will the remaining subsidy budget.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs has chosen to use a tender system for the SDE scheme, which is open to parties that have a Wbr (Public Works Act) permit for a wind farm in the Dutch part of the North Sea. Nuon obtained this permit in November 2009 and submitted its tender for this part of the SDE scheme on 1 March this year.
