Converteam Powers New GustoMSC 800t Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Cranes, Converteam

Berlin, 30 July 2010 – Converteam, the specialist in power conversion, has been awarded a contract to provide the electrical equipment and instrumentation for three 800t Offshore Wind Turbine Installation Cranes from GustoMSC in the Netherlands. With its complete drive and automation systems, Converteam is delivering the central components for the operation of this innovative crane.The GLC-800-ED crane will be installed on a NG-9000C-HPE Wind Turbine Installation jack up vessel with a length of 130 meters. This 800t capacity crane is situated on top of the jackhouse, which frees up useful deck space and enables the vessel to transport ten complete wind turbine sets in one haul. With its 800t leg crane GLC-800-ED series, GustoMSC has set a new high standard in the booming offshore wind turbine installation market.
The innovative Converteam 1600kW liquid-cooled drive, ProCraneMC, offers a system featuring extreme high power density, which fits perfectly into the tight electrical room. Converteam´s scope also covers the LV switchboards, motors, control/automation, crane management system and DNV certification. The crane packages are due for delivery in early 2011.
