Gamesa picks up contract to maintain new wind farms in France and Germany, Gamesa

Release Date: 2010-09-23

Madrid/Zamudio, 23 September 2010. Gamesa, the global leader in the design, manufacture and maintenance of wind turbines, has won an operation and maintenance (O&M) contract covering a total of 21 wind farms located in France and Germany. These facilities, all owned by Iberdrola Renovables, have aggregate capacity of 163 MW.
Eighteen of these wind farms (70 turbines and total capacity of 138 MW) are located in France, with the other three to be serviced by Gamesa (15 turbines and aggregate capacity of 25 MW) located in Germany.

This €7.4 million contract was signed under the full-service regime and encompasses maintenance of the G5X and G8X families of turbines for a three-year period, from January 1st, 2011, extendable by a further two.

The contract strengthens Gamesa's foothold in the operation and maintenance (O&M) business, a division which the company expects to drive growth and recurring revenues (€400 million by 2012).

The division employs over 2,000 professionals who are maintaining 12,000 MW of capacity for more than 130 clients in Spain and other countries. Optimal maintenance increases equipment performance, reduces operating costs and, therefore, enhances wind generator output and the return on projects.
