Transmission line project with great potential, Ramboll
Release Date: 2011-01-24
Ramboll in Estonia has just signed a contract with the Estonian transmission line company, Elering, for a 160 km 330kV/110kV Over Head Transmission Line (OHTL) between Harku-Lihula-Sindi in Estonia.A Baltic market with potential
“The project is hopefully the first of many orders in the Baltic Countries. The number of OHTL lines are being increased intensively in the Baltic countries these years to improve the quality of the power supply, and connect the transmission systems to Nordic and Western power systems according to BEMIP (Baltic Energy Market Interconnection Plan). The project is an excellent example of combining global expertise and local experience in Ramboll”, says Project Manager Hans Teiv from Ramboll in Estonia, who has been involved in twelve similar cross organisational projects during the recent three years.
“This project is very important for the expansion of our services within transmission abroad and it includes new services within routing of the line. We have gained experience due to more than 40 years of working in Denmark”, says Mogens G. Nielsen.
M. Sandeep from Ramboll IMI is also very happy with the project win: “With our expertise in this field, we are on the verge of establishing a Power Transmission & Energy Division in India which is expected to cater the home and global market. This is our first success in that direction.”
Estonian partners are assisting with the geotechnical investigations, GIS and local requirements for the OHTL.
