License agreement between REpower and Dongfang: 1,000th wind energy turbine produced, REpower Systems

At the end of December 2008, turbine manufacturer Dongfang Turbine Co. Ltd. produced the 1,000th wind energy turbine within the scope of its license with REpower Systems AG. The agreement between the third largest German manufacturer of wind energy turbines and the Chinese company concluded in November 2004 enables Dongfang to produce wind power plants of the 1.5 megawatt class. Two different turbine types, designed for sites with medium and high wind speeds respectively, are currently being manufactured for the Chinese market by the company based in Deyang (Sichuan Province).
Dongfang Turbine Co. Ltd., founded in 1966 and part of Dongfang Electric Corporation of China, ranks among the leading Chinese manufacturers of steam and gas turbines. In the sector of wind energy turbines the company reached a market share of some 6.7% in China in 2007.
