Vattenfall 2008 Annual report and CSR report now available, Vattenfall AB

Release Date: 2009-03-31

Today, Vattenfall publishes its 2008 Annual report and CSR report, both highlighting Vattenfall’s strategic direction “Making Electricity Clean”. The publications can be downloaded from Vattenfall’s websites.
The Annual report provides comprehensive information on Vattenfall’s financial results and describes the development of the Group in 2008. It describes Vattenfall’s strategic ambitions and recent acquisitions, the European energy market, competition and pricing, and the development of Vattenfall’s markets. The development of Vattenfall’s generation portfolio towards renewables, nuclear power and fossil-based power with Carbon Capture and Storage (CCS) is covered.
Vattenfall’s CEO, Lars G. Josefsson identifies Vattenfall’s financial strength as an important competitive advantage allowing further acquisitions of European electricity generation. He emphasises the key business benefits of the strategic orientation “Making Electricity Clean” – a commitment to clients and society in which the vision to achieve climate neutrality by 2050 is an integral part.
The CSR report addresses a number of important issues with respect to Vattenfall’s environmental and social responsibility such as investments in future energy generation and emission reducing technologies. Vattenfall reports in accordance with the GRI guideline for sustainability reporting on an A+ level, which means that all material aspects of Vattenfall’s operations from a sustainability perspective are included in the report and that the report as a whole is assured by a third party.
Mr Josefsson stresses the importance of continued reduction of environmental impact from all Vattenfall operations. He also points out that electricity will play a significant role in tomorrow’s sustainable society.
“Together the two reports provide a good coverage of the important aspects of Vattenfall’s operations. The Annual Report describes a number of key areas in which Vattenfall is investing for tomorrow’s energy generation, while the CSR report focuses on issues about which our stakeholders often have views and questions”, says Mr Lars G. Josefsson.
